• Put your ideas to work for primary industry
• Create policy across diverse industry sectors
• Help grow and protect New Zealand
Imagine waking each morning with the satisfaction of helping to grow and protect our unique diversity and way of life.
As part of the Ministry for Primary Industries, our Policy Analysts and Senior Policy Analysts play a vital role in maintaining New Zealand's resources and reputation both at home and overseas. On any given day, they could be involved in maximising exports, ensuring our food is safe, increasing sustainable resources or protecting us from biological risk. In fact, there isn't much affecting everyday life that MPI teams don't contribute to.
That's because our policymakers aren't stuck behind a desk. They're out in the field, connecting with industry and using their expertise to solve complex front line challenges. With constantly changing priorities, they also need to be full of ideas and on top of their game. Who knows – your first day may involve briefing ministers on an issue that's all over the headlines?
With sector responsibilities that include everything from forestry and fishing to trade policy, you'll have lots of room to grow, supported by dedicated colleagues who are keen to share their specialist knowledge and experience. This is a unique opportunity to test your best ideas and convert them into policy that will benefit all of New Zealand.
We currently have Senior Policy Analyst positions available in the following teams:-
- Food Policy
- Skills, Capability & Regulation
- Science Policy
- Fisheries & Aquaculture Sector
