Here is your chance to take up a key role in the Plant Exports team working in a very dynamic environment with often rapidly changing requirements.
The Plant Exports Team is responsible for a wide range of activities relating to the phytosanitary (plant health) export system as well the food safety aspects of the export of fresh produce. Activities include facilitating access to export markets, providing phytosanitary assurances and advice about importing countries requirements, management of the plant export assurance standards, management of Official Assurance Programmes for specific country/commodity combinations, review of and input into international standards (such as IPPC, UNECE, CODEX) and working closely with exporters to resolve issues.
We are looking for an Adviser to join our Plant Exportsteam initially for a 6 month fixed term period. You can be at any level, and we are open to a junior, experienced or Senior Adviser. You will contribute to the development, maintenance, and implementation of operational requirements and/or guidelines for export assurance programmes for plants and plant products, and contribute to the negotiation of market access requirements. This includes being able to quickly understand the nature of problems, identify a range of possible solutions (including implications) form conclusions and provide advice.
We are looking for someone who has the Ability to think “outside the square”, be innovative and not be constrained by how things have always been done.
To be successful in this role you need to be a great multi tasker, ideally have industry experience, with some knowledge and understanding of trade including the working international trading arrangements and various agreements. A relevant tertiary qualification, such as in horticultural or biological sciences, or equivalent industry experience is desired.
You will also have experience or an ability to produce written technical documents in simple understandable terms, ability to work under pressure and in conflict situations. You also need to have strong relationship management skills and have great written and verbal communication skills.
