MPI is looking for a high performer to join its Food Assurance team. This team ensures that we can have trust and confidence in the food that is imported to or exported from New Zealand.
This is a critical position which manages non-conformances of animal products such as dairy and honey to make sure consumers and markets are protected. The person is also responsible for processing requests for exemptions from the legislation. This can only be done in certain circumstances when appropriate and often requires liaison with technical experts to check that the request will not affect the safety and suitability of the product and that market requirements are still met. Just to keep the person really busy they are also responsible for organising calibration workshops for animal product verifiers twice a year.
The person in this role is also expected to give presentations to overseas regulators to explain how our system works and how we manage problems.
