- Are relationship management and customer experience fundamentally important to you?
- Are you ready to be part of a nationally connected team aimed at getting results in the region?
The Ministry for Primary Industries is looking for an experienced Northland based Senior Adviser to join its Economic Development and Partnerships team.
Regional economic development is a high priority for the Government and the primary sector is a very important contributor to the health and wealth of regional New Zealand. The new Government recently announced the creation of a $1 billion regional development fund.
Reporting through to the Development Manager, you will identify, support and manage the development and implementation of initiatives that lead to economic development in the primary sector in Northland.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced operator to really make their mark with key projects. You need to be flexible as no two days will be the same. You will be involved across the full spectrum of primary industries and be the coordinator of MPI input into business cases and feasibility studies along with writing reports and briefings. You will need to be confident enough to represent MPI in public forums – from gumboots and grassroots to the boardroom.
To be successful in this role you need exceptional relationship / stakeholder management skills, be a self-starter, solutions focused, innovative, a good writer, politically savvy, and have a high level of influencing skills. We also need you to be proactive and have the get up and go and be able to pick up a work programme and run with it.
This is a 12 month fixed term role which will be based in Northland, preferably operating from the Whangarei MPI office, and will focus on development in the Northland region. There will be some domestic travel involved and a lot of relationship building with people in the Northland.
