Are you passionate about implementing and developing frameworks and the development of people capability? As Adviser or Senior Adviser you'll help make New Zealand ready and prepared to respond to threats which affect the primary industries including biosecurity, Food Safety and Animal welfare and more. This is a secondment or fixed term role in our Response Capability and Capacity team until March 2019.
About the Role
In this unique role you'll work strategically across the team and organisation to lead complex programmes of work to deliver improved response capability and capacity for MPI. Currently the work programme includes managing a cross-organisation programme to support and improve performance of MPI staff in response situation. Activities include developing, monitoring, coordinating, communicating and evaluating a variety of Response Readiness Programmes.
You'll bring your confidence and relationship management strengths which will allow you to work with senior stakeholders both within and external to MPI. You will become the operational go to person in the readiness and responds services team for anything relating to the development of people capability and capacity. You'll enjoy working in a busy environment where no two days are the same.
Bring your experience in training and people development or programme management along with your ability to get stuff done. You will be highly productive, highly driven, an excellent communicator and have the ability to meet deadlines.

- Ability to perform, use initiative and persevere in high pressure situations
- Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills

About the Branch and the Team
The Operations branch has a critical role in preventing harmful organisms crossing New Zealand's borders. It manages border and compliance activities as well as preparing for, and responding to, any biosecurity incursions that may occur.
The branch also manages MPI's centralised intelligence, planning and co-ordination group which was established to manage food, biosecurity and animal welfare responses consistently and effectively.
The Readiness & Response Services Directorate within the Operations Branch brings together critical capability to effectively prepare for and manage responses, and to co-ordinate recovery and long term management activities, working across biosecurity, food, primary production and trade systems.
