The Ministry for Primary Industries' purpose is to grow and protect New Zealand. We do this by maximising export opportunities for the primary industries, improving sector productivity, increasing sustainable resource use and protecting New Zealand from biological risk.
We're looking for someone with a proven track record for effective communications, a keen eye for detail and an ability to juggle a varied portfolio to join our Communications team.
In this senior advisor role, you'll be part of the Media and Response communications team working on matters of importance to New Zealand, including animal welfare, trade, food safety and biosecurity. In addition to managing media issues you will take part in formal government responses to emerging issues.
This is a busy and varied role. There is complexity and challenge, so you will need to be adaptable and innovative to thrive in this environment.
To succeed in this position, you will need to demonstrate:
- A broad general communications background
- A proven track record in stakeholder communications
- Ability to work in complex, fast-paced environments
- Strategic nous and tactical know-how
- Ability to build credibility and trust with key internal stakeholders
The successful candidate will be a skilled and confident communicator, a self-starter and a creative problem-solver.
