We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced manager who has a track record of successful management of technical work programmes and staff to deliver on organisational goals and responsibilities.
The Manager Food Science and Risk Assessment has an essential role in MPI in ensuring that high quality and appropriate scientific advice is available to Food Safety NZ, other business groups across MPI, and external stakeholders.
A particular responsibility of this role is overarching management of all aspects of the science work underpinning the trans-Tasman food regulations and New Zealand's contributions to the governance responsibilities of the joint food regulatory system.
To be successful you will need to demonstrate a wide variety of skills and experience including excellent domestic and international stakeholder management and people leadership.
Key Skills / Educational Requirements:
- Postgraduate qualification in a relevant biological science related to food.
- Relevant management experience
- People management and leadership (particularly technical staff)
- Experience in managing internal and external relationships with an assortment of stakeholders and well developed networks
- Technical understanding of regulatory aspects of food safety, wholesomeness and nutrition
- High level of presentation, communication and influencing
