Are you looking to make a difference to things that matter for New Zealand?
New Zealand's economy, environment and way of life rely on effectively protecting the border from pests and diseases.
Keeping track of changes worldwide that continually challenge these protections will be the job of a new team – the Biosecurity Intelligence Team— being established at the Ministry for Primary Industries in Wellington, New Zealand.
Biosecurity intelligence is a specialised field focused on integrating science with the analysis of human behaviour – economic, political, and environmental – that impacts the spread of pests and diseases. The Ministry for Primary Industries is increasing its intelligence capability to better target biosecurity risk at the border.
The team will have access to new cutting-edge analytical tools, and the opportunity to influence key decisions. We are looking for a creative and resilient manager to lead the team, and to apply their experience in intelligence practice to develop the approach and processes that will drive effective performance. A background in biological sciences, environmental science, economics or sociology would enable you to provide the thought-leadership we expect you to deliver.
Security clearance to the level of TOP SECRET is required for this position. The successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain this clearance. More information about security clearances can be found at here
