- Work on complex, challenging and varied issues
- Regulatory policy role
- Permanent opportunity, with options for flexible working arrangements
Are you looking for an opportunity to work on challenging issues that cut across all areas of the Ministry for Primary Industries work? Do you want to help ensure MPI has the funding required to manage biosecurity risks and ensure our food is safe for export and consumption?
We are looking for a Principal Policy Analyst and an Analyst or Senior Policy Analyst who are committed to growing and protecting New Zealand's primary industries. This role helps ensure those that benefit from MPI services are not being over or undercharged.
The issues are interesting and challenging – everything from people and goods at the border, animal welfare, fisheries, to organics and the Food Act. You'll work across the business and with stakeholders to understand our services and identify opportunities for improvements to how we approach charging activities. The work programme spans the 10 acts that MPI oversees and is high profile for MPI because cost recovery is 40% of the budget.
You'll be joining an energised team with a track record of achieving. Experience in funding reviews, regulatory reform, or cost recovery is preferable but not essential. An economic background is useful for this role but also not essential. What is truly required to be successful for this role is intellectual curiosity and an ability to turn complex information into clear and well-structured advice.
