The Principal Adviser Data Transformation is a brand new role that will enable Fisheries New Zealand and its partners to realise the benefits of the growing availability, quality, and diversity of fisheries data and information. This role reports to the Director Fisheries Science & Information.
If you have a proven track record for the delivery of powerful outcomes that have driven organisational change, then this is the role for you. The Principal Advisor Data Transformation is a change-maker who will lead the design and delivery of innovative data solutions, to strengthen decision-making practices, in this rapidly evolving technical environment.
We need someone who is well versed in building and maintaining successful relationships. In this role, you'll get to work with intelligent and passionate people with diverse backgrounds and skill sets across Fisheries New Zealand and MPI, other New Zealand Government agencies, Tangata Whenua, and industry bodies. In this role, you will represent the Director as appropriate, and will be part of the Fisheries Science & Information Leadership Team.
The ideal candidate will be a thought leader, who is experienced in providing high quality technical advice and strategic leadership on decision-making excellence.

Fisheries New Zealand is a new business unit established within the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) to drive a stronger focus on managing New Zealand's valuable fisheries resources, and their place in the wider marine environment. The Fisheries Science & Information Directorate incorporates Fisheries New Zealand's data management, science and research, and observer services functions.

To be eligible for this role you must be able to obtain a SECRET level security clearance. This means you must be a New Zealand citizen or a New Zealand permanent resident, who has resided continuously in New Zealand, Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, or the United States for the last ten years.
