The Ministry for Primary Industries is currently seeking to appoint a Senior Intelligence Analyst / Intelligence Analyst for the Intelligence and Targeting Team. The purpose of this role is to contribute to the sustainability and growth of New Zealand's primary industries and to protect them from biological risk through the delivery of intelligence.
This role supports an intelligence function that is growing to meet the operational demands of business units across MPI. You will be responsible for collecting, processing and analysing information to produce and disseminate high quality intelligence products to inform decision makers.
To be successful in this role you will possess:
- Demonstrated experience in an intelligence environment
- Existing knowledge and experience in developing and analysing intelligence
- High level of interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively in both spoken and written form with a wide range of people
- Working knowledge of collecting and interpreting information
- Commitment to highest standards of professionalism and integrity
- Time management and planning skills
- High level of self-motivation
- Computer literacy
- A working knowledge of the border sector environment would be an advantage

The Operations Branch has a critical role in preventing harmful organisms crossing New Zealand's borders. It manages border and compliance activities as well as preparing for and responding to biosecurity threats within New Zealand.
The branch also manages MPI's centralised intelligence, planning and co-ordination services directorate which was established to manage food, biosecurity and animal welfare responses consistently and effectively. It facilitates the coordination of information flows across MPI and improve situational awareness.

The successful applicant will be based in Christchurch, as part of a regionally based team of intelligence professionals.
This position requires individuals to operate within multi-agency and collaborative environments, and the appointee will be required to attain and uphold a TOP SECRET national security clearance. More information about security clearances can be found here.
