Job Description
We have an exciting and challenging leadership opportunity to join our leadership team within the Assurance Directorate as Manager Chemical & Microbiological Assurance.
The Manager Chemical & Microbiological Assurance has the accountability for MPI's major chemical and microbiological food monitoring programmes, designed primarily for export assurances, but also serving the domestic market.
This is an opportunity to lead a group of motivated individuals to assure that New Zealand's chemical and microbiological monitoring and surveillance programmes are robust and ensure trading partner and public confidence in our control systems.
The successful candidate will bring strong leadership skills, and an innovative and forward thinking approach. You will have the ability to build strong relationships with a variety of people, be results focused, and be able to work in a fast moving, agile environment.
As part of the Assurances leadership team, you will be expected to contribute to the overall strategic direction and future development of the both the team and Directorate and the overall performance to deliver to work programmes using cost effective and customer focused approaches. You will also deliver to the changing needs of its stakeholders.
This role also has responsibility for working with the Director, other MPI teams and industry to develop and implement effective, efficient and adaptive chemical and microbiological and surveillance programmes. You will have the responsibility for building and leading cross organisational, national and international relationships.
To be successful in this role you will have the following skills and attributes:
- Proven leadership and management skills
- Excellent relationship and communication management skills
- Proven analytical and systems thinking skills
- Knowledge of the international trade environment as it affects NZ
- Experience managing a regulatory focussed or operational team within a large organisation
- Understanding of New Zealand agriculture practice
