About the role
The Mycoplasma bovis directorate has been running since July 2017, and we are working on a world class piece of work. The environment is dynamic with continual change, you'll really need to enjoy working at pace, and have a high attention to detail to enjoy working with these passionate folk.
In this role you will establish a dedicated disease management capability within the M.bovis directorate. This will involve building and maintaining relationships, creating situational awareness for the leadership team through the production of high quality disease management products that inform key decision making. Being a skilled manager you will develop a collaborative team approach, keep a watchful eye on your budget and ensure your team produces quality outputs that install confidence with the governance and leadership team.
Skills and Experience
To be the successful applicant for this role you will have a combination of the following:
- A relevant tertiary qualification and ideally a background in epidemiology or science
- Demonstrated capability as a line manager, managing a reasonable size team and budget
- Ability to analyse technical issues and apply analytical thinking to resolve
- Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders at all levels
- It would be helpful if you have experience in the field of disease management and its application in a regulatory environment

In July 2017, the bacterial infection Mycoplasma Bovis was found in cattle in the Oamaru area of the South Island. With the support of farmers, industry bodies and local communities, MPI is working hard to locate the disease, contain it and eradicate it from New Zealand. We have setup a directorate specifically to focus on the eradication of M.bovis.
Salary and Benefits
Salary range for this role is neg. and starts at $100,000 depending on skills and experience.
