About the Team
The Biosecurity and Animal Welfare Directorate leads the provision of strategic and policy advice to the Minister and senior managers. Our work stretches from the Beehive to the border and beyond, and spans the length and breadth of the country. To do this we work collaboratively across MPI, other government departments and with stakeholders. You will be joining a great group of people and have the opportunity to influence the shape of critical policy areas that grow and protect New Zealand.
About the role
This Senior Project Manager role is a key role within the Ministry, which will support project management discipline in teams delivering projects to transform elements of the biosecurity system. Projects include reviewing the Biosecurity Act 1993 and legislative changes for the NAIT system.
You will bring your confidence and relationship management strengths which will allow you to support professional policy teams step up their project management discipline and effectively deliver to senior stakeholders both within and external to MPI.
To be successful in this role you will need:
- Graduate qualification, in a relevant discipline.
- 5 -10 years delivering complex projects, working to governance groups.
- Proven experience in leading complex projects (including IT systems projects) which deliver business value, within scope, budget, on time and to the desired quality
- Experience in managing project budgets
- Experience in leading and managing project teams in ambiguous and constantly changing work environments
- Experienced in or have a solid understanding of government policy development
