- High profile, fast paced and exciting work
- Work to future proof our Fisheries
- MPI supports a range of flexible working options
The Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) is responsible for ‘Growing and Protecting New Zealand'. It's no mean feat and we have a team of hard working and dedicated people in a variety of roles supporting us to make this happen!
About our team
Our team provides policy advice and guidance to the Minister on the Fisheries Change Programme. The Fisheries Change Programme is the most significant change to the way New Zealand's fisheries are managed since the introduction of the Fisheries Act in 1996. The Fisheries Change Programme provides us with an opportunity to better realise the value we receive from our oceans, while protecting our resources for future generations of all New Zealanders. The programme is making significant enhancements to ensure our fisheries management system is fit for purpose both now and in the future.
About the role
We are seeking to recruit both senior and mid-level policy analysts. Successful applicants will contribute to developing innovative policy and progressing significant legislative, regulatory and process change. You will have the opportunity to work across MPI, with other government agencies, with iwi and with a diverse range of stakeholders including commercial and recreational fishers, environmental interests groups and local communities.
Fisheries experience would be great but is not essential and we are seeking a range of experience and skills sets. You must be a good team player and able to forge good working relationships across the public sector and beyond. Strong communication skills and experience of the legislative process would be an advantage.
It is high profile, fast paced and exciting work. If you are up for the challenge, we want to hear from you.
