About the Role:
This position will play an important role in supporting the Director of Communications in the leadership and development of the communications and engagement function at MPI. It has specific responsibilities for managing communications and engagement programmes in the areas of agriculture, biosecurity and forestry.
You will find no shortage of things to do. Helping your team and your internal customers to prioritise will be an important part of the job. Agriculture, biosecurity and forestry are clearly vital systems for New Zealand. As such, issues and opportunities abound. As well as developing and executing planned work programmes, your ability to provide counsel on and support the management of often significant issues – including biosecurity responses – is a key feature of the role.
You will have eight experienced direct reports including communications, marketing and events professionals.
Skills and Experience:
- A tertiary qualification or relevant experience in managing media and response communications
- Ability to plan and execute communications solutions to support organisational objectives
- Experience in managing relationships and consultation with an assortment of external stakeholders
- Ability to engage and earn respect of senior management alongside leading and manging staff effectively
- Outstanding communications, presentation and time management skills
