About the Branch:
Biosecurity New Zealand has a critical role in preventing harmful organisms crossing New Zealand's borders. Along with preparing for and responding to biosecurity incursions, it also manages border and compliance activities, diagnostics and surveillance activities and MPI's centralised intelligence, planning and co-ordination group.
About the team:
The Customer Enquiry Centre (CEC) is offering an exciting opportunity to work at the heart of MPI. The CEC provides a shared customer care service across all MPI services (Biosecurity, Food Safety, Forestry and Fisheries), and knowledge support to our external contact centre.
You will have the opportunity to work on a broad range of enquiries, issues and projects to improve customer experience and delivery insights.
Within the team, we promote a culture where staff are empowered to bring fresh perspectives to issues, think outside the box, take ownership, and contribute to continuous improvement of the Ministry.
About the role:
To be successful in this role, you have need to have a proven track record in understanding customer problems and providing solutions that delight. You will be someone who loves dealing with different people and drawing on different perspectives to provide support and solutions to our customers.
Moving towards 2020, the team has an aim to deepen their knowledge and capabilities in Biosecurity and Food Safety related areas. Ideally you will need to have a background or a level of understanding in one of these areas. However, if you have a passion for learning, a positive and proactive approach to work, we'd love to hear from you.
Skills and experience:
You will have:
- Ideally a background in Biosecurity or Food Safety
- Good interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
- Customer orientation and ability to adapt / respond to different type of characters
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage time effectively
- Problem solving and first contact resolution
- Well-developed critical thinking skills
Your experience and passion will bring capability to support the success of the customer enquiries centre (CEC).
