This influential position is responsible for managing Crown Forestry's Assets in Te Uru Rākau. Wellington based, you will be leading a small dynamic team responsible for managing the crown interests in forestry leases on Maori land, residual crown forests and entering into new government joint ventures as part of the One Billion Trees programme.
As the successful appointee, you will enhance the commercial performance of the Crown Forestry business and will foster a culture to enable the delivery of the government's objectives for Forestry. You will be committed to achieve the best return for stakeholders while meeting the required legal obligations. You will also lead high level engagement and collaboration across government and industry.
To be credible in this role, you will offer:
- Relevant senior management experience in commercial forestry management
- Demonstrated experience managing relationships with Maori
- Superior people leadership with proven capability and delivery in large scale programmes
- Proven success in building relationships and managing diverse stakeholders
- An in-depth understanding of relevant New Zealand legislation
- Strong financial management and negotiation skills
- Experience with government and ministers is desirable but not essential
