This position is for a NZ registered veterinarian to work as a verification reliever who will provide relief for VS staff based at the meat processing establishments in the Hawkes Bay team
The reliever role provides an opportunity to work in different environments and experience different ways of working with different VS staff and operators. While you are expected to be flexible and available when required, there will be some periods where you will be able to manage your own time and organise and complete tasks such as on-farm verification.
Initial training is fully provided, as well as ongoing CPD and other training, such as in soft skills is available

Salary band: From $97,848 progressing to $122,310 per annum. Dependent on skills and experience of the successful applicant

The Team Manager Establishment for Hawkes Bay is looking for a Veterinary Technical Supervisor Reliever to join the team!
Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the Role
This reliever role is based in the Hawkes bay region. The core of this role is to provide relief at premises based in the Hawkes Bay and Gisborne regions, you will be required to cover on both a longer or shorter term basis if no long-term opportunities are available.
In this position you will undertake verification activities in line with current legislation and organisational requirements, thereby permitting the issue of official assurances.
Applicants must be flexible and prepared to travel away from home as and when required, even at short notice (a fleet vehicle will be provided).

- A Qualified and NZ registered or NZ registerable Veterinarian,
- Knowledge of the principles and practices associated with HACCP, Quality Assurance systems, Risk Management Systems
- Verbal and written skills, verbal, and analytical reasoning skills
- Integrity and trust, ethics and values, resilience, adaptability, and openness
- Persuading and influencing, teamwork, planning and organising
- Computer literacy – can operate standard and customised software to an acceptable standard e.g., word-processing, excel, internet, email, database, secure sites, electronic certification, residues etc
- An understanding of basic food technology
- A willingness to embrace the Verification Services Triple O way of working

Reporting to the Team Manager Establishments Hawkes Bay, the role sits within the Establishment group of the Verification Services directorate. MPI Verification Services (MPI VS) provides a range of food safety and biosecurity verification and certification services to support market access strategies and setting standards.
