Team Leader – Forestry and Emission Trading Scheme Operations
Permanent & Fixed term to June 2025
Wellington based preferred
The salary range is $109,926 to $148,318, appointments are made based on skills and experience
About the Roles│Kōrero mō te tūranga
We have two team leader roles within Te Uru Rākau, the New Zealand Forestry Service at Ministry for Primary Industries. One of these roles is permanent and the other fixed term to June 2025. These roles will best suit someone experienced in leading a team of operational analysts, who also has experience in working within a regulatory environment.
The core responsibilities for these roles are:
- Leading a team of analysts and providing operational oversight of forestry participation in the Emissions Trade Scheme and Permanent Forest Sink Initiative.
- Provide leadership and direction for the team, ensuring robust processes are followed and staff have learning and development opportunities
- Establish and maintain successful and productive stakeholder relationships with key parties
- Negotiate complex operational matters and resolve escalated issues
- Leading and contributing to the development, documentation, review and improvement of Emissions Trading Scheme operational processes for staff
- Coordinating the delivery of advice to Managers, Directors and Ministers
About You│Mōu
To be successful in this role you will have:
- People leadership experience, with the ability to build a strong team culture and get the best out of people
- Experience in managing a team through change, (both technology change and legislative change ideally)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- A tertiary qualification in a science discipline is ideal, but not essential
- Ability to read and interpret legislation.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a wide variety of people and work in a collaborative manner to succeed.
- An understanding of the public sector and the machinery of government, including interaction with decision makers and stakeholders would be advantageous.
- Knowledge of the forestry aspects of the ETS and carbon accounting is valuable but not essential.
