Salary Band: $92,073 to $115,000 depending on skills and experience
The Ministry for Primary Industries are currently recruiting for a Senior Adviser, to join our Forestry Engagement & Advice directorate, which forms part of our wider Te Uru Rākau – New Zealand Forest Service business unit based in Wellington.
Kōrero mō te Tūranga - About the Role
This is your opportunity to be part of Sector Partnership's Workforce Team where we work alongside the forestry sector to ensure we have the right people, with the right skills for now and in the future.
You will work across the forestry industry and government agencies to enable the successful implementation of a range of forestry and wood processing workforce initiatives that improve capability and skills at all levels across the forestry sector.
The role is varied, collaborative, challenging and rewarding. A high-performing Workforce team will have a positive and sustainable impact on the sector where industry bodies, workers and employers are supported to improve capability and fulfil capacity.
Core responsibilities for the role:
- Provide workforce advice within and external to MPI, including the support and coordination of events and forestry forums
- Establish and implement processes for the successful delivery of forestry workforce related initiatives
- Support current initiatives to understand their success factors and scalability and apply learnings to other similar programmes
- Support initiatives through the Forestry Workforce Action Plan

You're someone who loves to build collaborative relationships in order to get the work done and you know how to plan, implement, evaluate and support.
Our ideal candidate will have experience in:
- Establishing and effectively maintaining collaborative relationships with stakeholders, Maori and Government and non-governmental agencies.
- Managing priority projects and work programmes
- Education and training
- Providing advice and writing reports

This role is part of the Forestry Engagement and Advice directorate within Te Uru Rākau – New Zealand Forest Service. Te Uru Rākau – New Zealand Forest Service is a branded business unit within the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) and is leading the Government's renewed focus on forestry, one of our country's most successful primary industries. You'll be joining a dynamic and diverse team who partner with tangata whenua, landowners, and the forestry and wood processing sectors to ensure our people and forests are fit for now and fit for the future.
