Location: Wellington
Salary: $68,781 - $80,918 per annum, dependent on skills and experience
Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the Role
As a Payroll Adviser, you will work as part of the wider People and Capability Team to process the payroll ensuring that all employees are paid in an accurate and timely manner in accordance with relevant terms and conditions of employment and legislation.
In this role, you would have the opportunity to:
- Work in partnership with an outsourced payroll provider to ensure our pay cycle runs smoothly
- Ensure that the correct data is sent to our provider on time for a successful pay process
- Manage and resolve payroll queries in an accurate and timely manner, providing high levels of customer service
- Identify and raise payroll issues, providing relevant documentation to assist in resolution of issue, and follow through to full resolution
- Provide information, assistance, and training to staff, and provide subject matter expertise on payroll policies and procedures
- Continuously strive to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of existing systems and tools and look for alternatives to better meet business needs
Mōu - About You
To be successful in this role, you'll ideally have experience providing payroll expertise in a large and complex organisation.
In addition to the above, we are seeking an applicant with:
- A high degree of integrity with the ability to work with sensitive data and maintain trust and confidentiality
- Passion for people and strong interpersonal and communications skills
- Excellent time management skills, with the ability to work well under pressure, prioritise, and work on your own initiative
- Understanding of PAYE, ACC and IRD compliance
- A ‘can do' attitude and the ability to work as part of a collaborative team
- Any audit, improvement, data quality or data analytics skills are advantageous

We work within the wider Whakapakari Pūmanawa - People and Capability group to provide payroll services to MPI. We collaborate with an external provider to setup new employees, provide advice and support general pay activities as part of the wider People Operations group.
