Team Manager Assessments – Veterinary Medicines
Role type: Permanent, full-time
Location: Wellington
Salary band & range: General Salary Range C: $117,035 to $136,961 depending on skills and experience
About the Role - Kōrero mō te Tūranga
This position will see you managing and supporting the delivery of the Veterinary Medicines Assessments team's primary accountabilities.
Responsibilities of this position include:
- Providing day to day team management of the Veterinary Medicine Assessment team, this includes:
- providing leadership and management to 10-12 highly skilled professionals within the function by ensuring robust processes for communication, engagement, learning and development and performance management are implemented.
- contribute to the Veterinary Medicine team's outputs by ensuring timely delivery of quality core services.
- work with Team Manager Agricultural Chemicals to ensure consistency of appraisal function and outcomes, completion of generic projects, processes and documents;
- Supporting the Manager ACVM Programmes and Appraisals in the delivery of the team and Assurance directorate work programme.
- Contributing to to the ACVM Leadership team in all aspects of the day-to-day and strategic management of the ACVM regulatory system.
- Building and maintaining strong working relationships both internally, with other key MPI business groups, and externally with industry and registrants.
About You - Mōu
We are looking for someone who:
- Has background in veterinary science, biomedical science, or biological sciences.
- Is an experienced manager with a proven track record of delivery.
- Is experienced in stakeholder management.
- Has experience in risk assessment and risk management.
- Has knowledge and understanding of Agricultural Compounds and Veterinary Medicines, particularly veterinary medicines is desirable.
- Enjoys a fast paced environment.
- Is a passionate leader who is committed to developing and maintaining a strong, cohesive and robust team.
About the Team - Mō tō mātou Rōpū
The team is currently made up ten fulltime technical staff plus two casual staff who all have a passion for creating and maintaining availability of veterinary medicines that are safe and efficacious for use in both companion and production animals. The team is diverse in terms of age group, ethnicity and scientific background; although most are veterinarians.
The team members work hard as they see real value in the work that they do both as part of the wider MPI organisation and for New Zealand as a whole. This is an opportunity to lead a team that is doing important and rewarding work, but who also like to catch up occasionally for a bit social interaction outside of work, often with the wider ACVM team.
