Role type: Permanent full-time
Location: Christchurch
Salary band & range: F - $74,964 to $79,131 dependant on skills and experience
About the Role - Kōrero mō te Tūranga
You will be supporting the Team Manager Biosecurity Support in providing advice and coordinating a team of Biosecurity Support Officers, this is a “hands on” working Team Leader role. The Support team looks after all support and logistics for the Biosecurity Staff based in the Southern region.
The team flourishes around the fast-paced nature of our work and has a very keen eye for detail and support the successful delivery of the core functions across the Biosecurity Directorate.
This position is office-based Monday-Friday 8.00am – 4.30pm. There will also be an on-call allowance.

To be successful in this position, you should be able to lead the team by demonstrating a strong work ethic, have sound technical knowledge and experience, demonstrated leadership skills and a desire to grow and development your leadership skills.
You will also bring:
- Exceptional relationship building and management skills with a variety of stakeholders, including external organisations, senior managers, and colleagues across the function.
- Experience managing, coaching, and growing teams and team members
- Ensure streamlined and effective support services
- A focus on understanding your customers and their needs based on the environments they work in
- The ability to manage and prioritise a high number of workstreams and tasks, ensuring effective delegation to the team and appropriate collaboration and communication with colleagues.

About the Team - Mō tō mātou Rōpū
Biosecurity Support is dedicated team who take pride in providing operational and logistical support to various directorates within Biosecurity New Zealand. You will manage a small team of 3 Support Officers within the Christchurch MPI office.
The Biosecurity New Zealand has a critical role in preventing harmful organisms crossing New Zealand's borders. It manages border and compliance activities as well as preparing for, and responding to, any biosecurity incursions that may occur. This directorate manages MPI's centralized intelligence, planning and co-ordination group which was established to manage food, biosecurity, and animal welfare response consistently and effectively.
