Salary band & range: General Salary Range H: $60,750 to $63,964 depending on skills and experience
About the Role – Kōrero mō te Tūranga
The Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) is looking for proactive and detail-oriented administration professionals to join the Biosecurity Support Team as a Biosecurity Support Officer.
In this role, you'll provide day-to-day administrative and logistical support, including managing the team's email inbox, assisting with invoices, coordinating travel arrangements, and processing purchase orders.
You'll also deliver secretariat services to support both internal and external teams including handling meeting logistics, maintaining shared email accounts, preparing agendas, and taking minutes.
This is a dynamic role that requires adaptability to meet the evolving needs and priorities of the Biosecurity New Zealand business unit.
Please note: This is an office-based role, Monday to Friday.

About the Team – Mō tō mātou Rōpū
The Biosecurity business unit plays a vital role in preventing harmful organisms from entering New Zealand. It oversees border and compliance activities and leads preparation and response efforts for biosecurity incursions. The unit also manages MPI's centralised intelligence, planning, and coordination group, which ensures consistent and effective responses across food safety, biosecurity, and animal welfare.
