Job Title: Policy Analyst
Role Type: Permanent, full time preferred
Location: Wellington
Salary Band & Range: F $76,463 – $98,135 depending on skills and experience
About the Role - Kōrero mō te Tūranga
As a Policy Analyst, you will play a key role in supporting cost recovery policy development at Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI). You'll help develop and maintain cost recovery frameworks that ensure our regulatory services are sustainable and fairly funded.
Your role will include undertaking cost recovery reviews and providing advice to improve regulatory performance working across MPI to build understanding and deliver long-term cost recovery programmes.
In this role, you will:
- Develop frameworks and advise on efficient levels of cost recovery, to support the delivery or our regulatory functions for the primary sector.
- Provide robust, evidence-based policy advice to decision makers.
- Develop guidance for cost recovery reviews and innovative solutions to problems.
- Facilitate updates to cost recovery regulatory settings that ensure cost recovery practices are aligned to state sector good practices.
- Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Deliver priority cost recovery workstreams across MPI.
Your work will directly contribute to MPI's mission to grow the value of New Zealand's food and fibre sector and support our vision to be the world's most trusted provider of high-value food and fibre products.

You may bring fee-setting experience, or you may be a policy professional with a strong interest in economics and public finance. Either way, we're looking for someone who's curious, proactive, and confident working across diverse teams and perspectives.
