About the Role - Kōrero mō te Tūranga
You will join an established People Insights and Reporting team at an exciting stage of its development, where strong foundations are already in place and the organisation is actively seeking deeper analytics, richer insights, and more innovative approaches to workforce data. As the Senior People Insights and Reporting Analyst, you will play a key role in developing reporting and analytics products, improving data quality, and championing data‑informed decision‑making across MPI. A high level of intellectual curiosity is essential for success in this position.
The role is responsible for preparing, transforming, and integrating HR data from multiple systems to produce insights, reports, dashboards, and other visualisations tailored to a wide variety of stakeholders. You will spend time learning our wider public sector reporting landscape, including Te Kawa Mataaho requirements. As you settle in, you'll enhance Power BI dashboards and contribute to cyclical and statutory reporting.
Stakeholder engagement is a key part of the role, so you'll need to be comfortable working with people, building relationships, and translating customer needs into effective data products. You will maintain strong relationships with internal teams as well as external providers, including our payroll and HR technology partners. You will also contribute to system configuration and testing activities to ensure data standards, definitions, integrations, and security requirements are consistently upheld.
About You - Mōu
This role requires someone who can demonstrate real experience analysing, interpreting, and drawing meaningful conclusions from data. You bring your ability to turn data into insights that influence decisions. HR analytics experience is desirable, but what matters most is your curiosity, your ability to interrogate data, and your drive to understand what it is really telling you.
We are looking for a person who brings creativity, curiosity, and fresh ideas into the team, someone who enjoys exploring questions, testing assumptions, and developing insights that add value. You do not need a long history working specifically with HR data, but you must be able to demonstrate strong analytical capability and a genuine interest in understanding people‑related information. Curiosity and willingness to think deeply will be highly regarded for this position.
What you will bring to the role
- A high level of intellectual curiosity and interest in deep‑dive analytics
- Proficiency in Excel and Power BI
- A proven track record in developing HR reporting and analytics products
- Confidence engaging with stakeholders and building collaborative relationships
- Ability to translate customer requirements into meaningful data products
- Creativity, new ideas, and a willingness to challenge and improve existing approaches
- Interest in public sector reporting methodologies and data standards
About the Team - Mō tō mātou Rōpū
You will be joining a well‑respected team looking to build on a strong platform of reporting developed over the last three years.
