Programme Coordinator
Role type: Fixed-term, full-time until August 2027
Location: Wellington City
Salary range & band: General Salary Range F: $76,463 to $89,215 depending on skills and experience
About the Role – Kōrero mō te Tūranga
We're looking for a highly organised and detail-focused Programme Coordinator to provide high-quality coordination, project management, and business systems support to our Regional Māori Agribusiness teams within He Taurikura Māori.
This role is pivotal to ensuring Māori agribusiness programmes are well planned, monitored, and reported, supporting the effective delivery of initiatives that enable Māori-led economic development across Aotearoa's primary sector.
Working closely with regional managers, advisers, and analysts, you will help keep programmes moving smoothly by supporting contract development and management, tracking financials and milestones, maintaining programme systems, and preparing consolidated reporting for governance.
You will also coordinate information requests, support team meetings and engagements, and ensure documentation across programmes is consistent, accurate, and aligned with MPI and government priorities.
This role thrives on collaboration and requires someone comfortable working in a kaupapa Māori environment.
About You – Mōu
You will bring excellent organisational skills, strong relationship management, and a proactive approach to supporting programme delivery. You'll be confident coordinating multiple workstreams and maintaining high standards of accuracy, documentation, and system integrity.
We're particularly interested in candidates who have:
- Experience in project coordination or project management
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Confidence working with numbers, data, and business support processes
- Advanced Microsoft Office capability
- Ability to maintain programme documentation, track milestones, and support reporting
- Experience working with Māori and comfort in kaupapa Māori environments
- Communicate clearly and professionally in written and verbal formats.
About the Team – Mō tō Mātou Rōpū
He Taurikura Māori sits within the Māori Agribusiness directorate at MPI. Our team is dedicated to supporting Māori landowners, whānau, hapū, and organisations to achieve their aspirations in the primary sector.
You will be a working with the North Team, who are passionate and skilled people working in the Tai Tokerau, Waikato and the Bay of Plenty rohe. The North Team are deeply committed to strengthening Māori economic development and advancing outcomes grounded in tikanga and mātauranga Māori.
