Salary band & range: General Salary Range G $69,011 to $80,346 depending on skills and experience
About the Role - Kōrero mō te Tūranga
As a Contracts Administrator, you'll play an important role in supporting the effective delivery of procurement and contract administration activities across MPI. Working closely with teams across the organisation, you'll ensure contract records, systems, databases, and processes are maintained accurately and efficiently. This is a role for someone who enjoys working in a detail-focused environment, takes pride in delivering high-quality administrative support, and values building positive relationships with a wide range of internal and external customers.
This role offers a unique opportunity to work with every part of MPI and contribute to work that makes a positive difference for New Zealand. You'll support procurement activities that help the organisation respond to significant operational priorities, maintain strong financial controls, and deliver value for New Zealanders. Joining a collaborative team, you'll have the chance to develop your expertise in contracts and supplier administration while supporting work that has a meaningful impact across the country.
In this role, you will:
- Monitor shared inboxes and respond to enquiries in a timely manner.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships across MPI.
- Prioritise competing workloads and respond to urgent requests as needed.
- Manage supplier onboarding and maintain accurate supplier records.
- Administer contracts, contract variations, and contractor sourcing processes in line with MPI requirements.
- Maintain accurate contract records, including documentation, milestones, and invoices.
- Review contract documentation, approvals, and compliance requirements.
- Administer GETS and other procurement systems, supporting tender and post-award activities.
- Support reporting and audit requirements while contributing to continuous process improvement.

Highly organised and efficient, you're confident using Microsoft Office and learning new systems. You enjoy administration as a career, are looking for a long-term opportunity, and thrive in a role where attention to detail, sound judgement, and reliability are valued. You will also bring:
- Experience in contract administration.
- Knowledge of procurement processes.
- Strong administrative and organisational skills.

- Confidence using Microsoft Office applications.

About the Team - Mō tō mātou Rōpū
The Contract Monitoring and Administration team sits within Procurement and Commercial Management, a team of around 22 specialists dedicated to supporting MPI's business units with procurement advice, tools, and services. Our work helps ensure goods and services are purchased efficiently and in line with Government expectations, while also providing assurance and reporting across MPI's procurement activities. Working with customers from across the organisation, we play a key role in supporting outcomes that make a positive difference for New Zealand.
Based in Wellington and part of the wider Finance Directorate, our close-knit team of three values collaboration, support, and shared success.
